In early December, as the wintertime blahs and holiday stress descend upon us, come explore fostering
well-being in the legal profession, learn evidence-based practices that regulate and renew, and get updated about important MCLE changes adopted by the State Bar of California’s Board of Trustees. Join with Robin Oaks, attorney and well-being coach, and Catherine Ongiri from the California Bar Association, Office of Professional Competence, to learn about the new MCLE requirements affecting all California licensed attorneys. These significant changes signal growing recognition that a broad range of competencies (Professional, Relational, Organizational, Self Skills) contribute to successful legal practice and thriving as legal professionals. About the Event: An estimated 37 million business entities worldwide will be faced with new compliance obligations under the Corporate Transparency Act by the end of 2024. Join corporate attorney Jake Glicker of Allen & Kimbell, LLP for an insightful strategy session into requirements and best practices for business entities in navigating the new legal landscape of the CTA’s “beneficial ownership” reporting regime. So as to provide opportunity for the victors to boast of their athletic conquests, a post golf and tennis reception will begin at 5:00 at the Mulligan’s Café & Bar, to be followed by dinner starting at 5:30 pm.

GOLF

Meet at the Santa Barbara Municipal Golf Course at 12:00 pm. Shotgun starts at 12:36 pm. Team prizes for 1st & 2nd places. Individual prizes for Longest Drive and Closest to Pin!

Players must give some estimate of his/her handicap.

You will be contacted regarding team assignments.

$125 to Play for SBCBA Members/$135 for Non- Members – Includes green fees & cart.

TENNIS

Meet at the tennis courts at the Santa Barbara Tennis Club at 1:00 pm for warm-up with round robin play starting at 1:30 pm. A committee will form teams, for all levels. Men and women will participate in the tournament in all levels.

We are seeking sponsors and requesting donations for event prizes for tournament winners. We are offering Tee Sponsors at $125 each to be placed on tee boxes throughout the golf course and seeking donations for event prizes.

As a tee sponsors:

• Your tee sign (featuring your logo) will be placed on one of the 18 holes played in the golf tournament which we will create for you.
• Your name and logo will be featured on a program during the game day dinner; and
• Your name and logo will be included in the eNewsletter and in the Santa Barbara Lawyer magazine.

Speakers: Hellen Hong, Esq. is the CEO of CalBar Affinity, Inc., which operates CalBar Connect. She has held multiple positions in public interest law firms, the State Bar of California, and nonprofit organizations.

Suma Mathai, Esq., MSW, is a legal consultant with the Judicial Council of California and an adjunct lecturer at the University of Southern California Gould School of Law. She previously practiced family law at public interest law firms in Los Angeles.
